Famous Malayalam Film Actor Unnikrishnan Namboothiri Dies At 98
Famous Malayalam actor Unnikrishnan Nampoothiri, who won the hearts of film goers as ‘Muthachan'(Grand father) in the film Desadanam by Jayraj died today at Payyanur. He was 98 years old.
He was recovering from Covid-19 attack, when the death came.
He is survived by his children Devi, Bhavadas, Yamuna and P V Kunhikrishnan, who is judge at the Kerala High Court. He is also the father-in-law of musician, composer and filmmaker Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri, and grandfather of composer Deepankuran.
Unnikrishnan Nampoothiri contracted Covid-19 during his stay in a hospital in Kannur where he was admitted with pneumonia.
Despite getting discharged, Namboothiri again got hospitalized with fever. After found infected with Covid-19 he was admitted to Intensive Care Unit and with a week treatment it was announced that he was fully recovered from coronavirus. He was resting at his home at Payyanur in Kannur.
Earlier his son Bhavadasan said, Unnikrishan Namboothiri was a fitness enthusiast and used to hit the gym in his younger days. Even in his later days, he followed a strict life style.
Unnikrishnan Namboothiri shot into fame through his debut film Desadanam in 1996. After that he acted in various movies including Tamil films.
