Ace Pacer Sreesanth to play for Kerala Ranji team
Kerala pacer Sreesanth has been included in the Kerala state Ranji team again. Kerala Cricket Association’s (KCA) decision in this regard has come as Sreesanth about to come back to professional cricket after his ban ends on September. It was on May 2013 the now 37 year old Sreesanth was suspended from all forms of cricket by BCCI after he was arrested along with three other Rajastan Roayal’s team mates on charges of spot-fixing.
There after Sreesanth had been pursuing a long battle in the court and consequently a special court in Delhi in 2015 had acquitted him of all charges. But in 2018 the Kerala high court revoked the charges and the next year upholding his guilt Supreme court mandated BCCI to reduce the degree of the punishment. Subsequently BCCI had reduced his life ban to seven years which ends on September 2020.
“I am really indebted to the KCA for giving me a chance. I will prove my fitness and storm back to the game. It is time for all controversies to take rest,” he said in Kochi. Recently KCA had appointed former fast bowler Tinu Yohanan as the team coach. KCA secretary Sreeith Nair said his comeback will be an asset to the state team.
Infamous for his on-field antics, Sreesanth, took 87 wickets in 27 tests and 75 wickets in one-day internationals. He was also a member of the World Cup cricket winning team in 2011.
