Air India May Resume Bengaluru-San Francisco Non-Stop Flight From June 10
Air India may restart its direct non-stop flights between Bengaluru and San Francisco from 10th June, Times Of India reported quoting aviation sources.
The last flight to San Francisco took off from Bengaluru Airport on May 10 and the next flight on May 13 was cancelled. The last return flight reached Bengaluru on May 10 and has since remained grounded due to poor patronage as a result of the lockdown in Karnataka amid the second wave of Coronavirus.
Earlier, Air India has operated two non-stop flights per week to Kempegowda International Airport in Bangalore, departing on Saturday and Tuesday. The return flight from Bangalore arrives on Mondays and Thursdays,
Owing to the second wave of Coronavirus in India international flights have been restricted to air bubbles between Indian and other countries. The United States, among other nations, initially restricted and subsequently banned flights from India due to the second wave of Covid cases in April and May.
It was on on January 11 this year that the first non-stop flight between Bengaluru and United States took off from Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport with an all-woman crew, including four pilots.
The first non-stop flight between Bengaluru and United States had hit the headlines with the facts that it was the longest route at 14,000+ km (8,698 miles), longest flight to and from India (over 16 hours) and the flight was fully operated by an all-woman crew, including four pilots.
