Air India To Operate 36 Flights Between India & USA From 11 July

Air India on Sunday in a Twitter post informed that the airline will operate 36 Flights between India & the USA from 11 July to 19th July 2020 under Phase 4 of Vande Bharat Mission.

Tickets can be booked through Air India website only effective 20:00 hours (IST) on 6 July, equivalent to New York (EDT 1030 hrs of 6′ July 2020), Chicago (CDT 0930 hrs of 6 July 2020) & San Francisco (PDT 0730 hrs of 6 July 2020), Air India said in a social media post.


Earlier U.S had restricted the services made by Air India under Vande Bharat mission citing “unfair and discriminatory practices”. According to U.S officials, the government of India has been engaging in “unfair and discriminatory practices” on charter air transportation services to and from India.
The U.S officials has also instructed the Indian National career Air India to obtain a prior approval for conducting charter flights services.
After the announcement it was reported that the talks between India and the United States (US) are going on to develop a travel corridor which will significantly lessen travel restrictions between the two countries. This will be the first green corridor India will set up with any country. The U.S has similar initiatives with select European countries.

It is also reported that the government of India is likely to create similar travel bubble with European countries like U.K,France,Germany etc.
Under the fourth phase of the mission, Air India will be conducting 170 flights connecting India with Canada, the US, the UK, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Kyrgyzstan, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Thailand, South Africa, Russia, Australia, Myanmar, Japan, Ukraine, and Vietnam, as per the airline’s document accessed by the PTI.

After nearly two months of suspension to combat the coronavirus outbreak, the govt resumed scheduled domestic passenger flights from May 25 but in a curtailed manner and by placing lower and upper limits on airfares depending upon the flight duration.
