British Airways to Introduce Verifly Health Passport App for Passengers
In order to help the passengers meet the travel requirements beforehand, British Airways is launching digital health passport. This was first introduced by American Airlines. British Airways will launch the app, which is going to be used by passengers traveling from London to the United States, on February 4th.
Passengers are required to upload the credentials of Covid-19 tests and vaccination details on this app in order to produce these health passport app before flying. Along with the details regarding vaccinations and tests it also requires other credentials for flying.
Named as Verifly app this will permit customers to complete all verification before leaving home for the airport, providing them easier immigration check at the airport.
American Airlines is using this app since November.
However, given the fact that all the passengers may not be having smartphones, the Airlines will not make this app mandatory. Passengers traveling to the US with British Airways could still get verified manually at the airport.
“Although flying is currently restricted, it is essential we do as much as we can now to help those who are eligible to fly and prepare to help our customers navigate the complexities around changing global entry requirements when the world re-opens. We remain focused and committed to finding user-friendly, evidence-based solutions to make journeys as seamless they can be,” British Airways CEO Sean Doyle said regarding the launching of Verifly app.
Earlier it was reported that companies had started working on smartphone apps and systems which contain credentials of Covid-19 tests and vaccinations.
