Canada Immigration: IRCC Releases Initial Invitation Data For FSWP And CEC Candidates
The federal immigration department of Canada has released preliminary data on candidates invited in the two most recent Express Entry draws for the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
On July 6, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held its first all-program draw in 18 months, inviting 1,500 candidates to apply for Canadian immigration. In order to be invited, candidates needed to have a score of at least 557.
According to IRCC media relations, 1,750 candidates were invited to the 29 July Express Entry draw, with a minimum score cut-off of 542.
The official government body confirmed that candidates eligible for the FSWP, as well as those eligible for the CEC and the Provincial Nominee Program, were invited (PNP).
People wondering why the IRCC did not declare candidates for the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) should be aware that the IRCC prioritises sending CEC invitations to candidates who are eligible for more than one programme.
Express Entry-managed Program | July 6, CRS 557 | July 6, CRS 557 | Total from July 6-July 20 |
Provincial Nominee Program | 700 | 764 | 1,464 |
Canadian Experience Class | 595 | 569 | 1,164 |
Federal Skilled Worker Program | 205 | 417 | 622 |
Total | 1,500 | 1,750 | 3,250 |
IRCC also invites candidates who are eligible for both the FSWP and the CEC, or who are eligible for all three programmes, including the FSTP. According to IRCC, CEC candidates do not need to provide proof of funds in order to apply for immigration, whereas FSWP and FSTP candidates who do not have a Canadian job offer do. It is preferable for candidates who are eligible for both to apply through the CEC.
The IRCC also stated that FSTP candidates would be considered for other programmes if they were eligible. Otherwise, their scores were insufficient to be considered for Canadian immigration.
To meet its 2023 immigration targets, IRCC will need to continue inviting candidates from all programmes, according to its current multi-year immigration levels plan. Around 80% of candidates who respond to their invitations are expected to hear back within six months.
