Canada Lifts Ban On Direct Flights From India; New Travel Guidelines And Schedule

Government of Canada on Saturday announced that it would lift month long travel ban imposed on Indian travelers from September 27 on wards.

According to the new guidelines issued by Canada, all travelers from India must submit a negative Covid- test report,  taken 18 hours before departure from an approved laboratory, at the New Delhi Airport.

“Beginning at 00:01 EDT on September 27, direct flights from India can land in Canada with additional public health measures in place,” said Transport Canada in a tweet.

New Travel Guidelines For Indians:

After the restriction on direct flights expires, fully vaccinated passengers, and exceptionally unvaccinated passengers eligible to enter Canada, traveling on those flights will need to:

• Obtain a pre-departure negative COVID-19 molecular test result from the Genestrings Laboratory, located above the metro station in the Airport Connect Building (ACB) at the Indira Gandhi International Airport.
• Perform this test within 18 hours before their scheduled departure.
• Present the test report with a QR code issued by this laboratory to the air operator before boarding.

Alternatively, travelers who have previously tested positive for COVID-19 can present a positive molecular test issued by a certified laboratory in India. The date of the collection must have been between 14 and 180 days before their scheduled departure to Canada.

Indirect Flights

Passengers who travel from India to Canada via an indirect route still need to provide a pre-departure negative COVID-19 molecular test result from a third country before continuing their journey to Canada.

• Certain countries don’t allow entry or transit of passengers arriving from India or of passengers who have previously tested positive for COVID-19.
• COVID-19 testing for passengers in transit might not be available in all international airports or third countries.
• If you test positive during transit, you may face local quarantine regulations or be returned to your point of departure.

Carefully consider your itinerary, transit options, and entry requirements for third countries.

India Canada Flight Schedule:

Air Canada has scheduled AC42 and AC43 to fly passengers on the Toronto-Delhi route on all 7 days in a week with a Boeing 787-9 aircraft. The airline will also resume flights between Vancouver and Delhi starting from 27th Sep 2021. Air Canada will fly AC44 and AC45 on this route on all seven days of the week.
