Diet to deal with depression
Recent studies have proved that a healthy diet can play a significant role in reducing the symptoms of depression.
The research team under the leadership of Dr. Joseph Firth, an Honorary Research fellow at the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom, has come up with a study that establishes the negative effect of poor diet on the mental health. In the research study that included 46,000 individuals, the research team revealed that every kind of improvement in diet towards physical health had a subsequent effect on mental health too.
The dietary interventions which were found effective in reducing the symptoms of depression included weight-loss diets, fat-reducing diets, and nutrient-rich diets. The research team thus concluded that switching to a diet which in nutrient rich and containing a lot of fibers and vegetables and cutting back on fast food and refined sugars can have a positive effect in dealing with depression and anxiety.
