How much sleep do you need?
Adults need at least 7 hours; kids may need up to 13 hours
Eight hours of sleep a day keeps the doctor away, right? Not exactly. How much sleep you need is specific to your age, health, and lifestyle.
Some adults, for instance, may only need 7 hours while others may need 8 hours to feel rested.
Our chart below provides general guidelines for each age group. Be sure to speak with your health care provider about how much sleep is right for you and your family members.
