Indian Embassy in US resumes accepting online applications for visa, passport, OCI services

The Indian Embassy at Washington DC has started receiving online applications for visa, Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI), renunciation, passport and Global Entry Programme (GEP) services through a new service provider, VFS Global from November 4.

“With effect from 4 November 2020 (12:01 AM Eastern Standard Time), Embassy of India, Washington DC will accept online applications for OCI, Renunciation, Passport and GEP services through new service provider, VFS Global,”the Embassy release stated.

” A service fee of US$15.90 (inclusive of all taxes) per application will be charged in addition to applicable Government of India fees for these services. Applicants are advised not to send any applications by post to VFS before making an online application on 4 November 2020 on the website of VFS,” it added.

The embassy also states that there will be no walk-in service at VFS Global until further notice due to the ongoing Covid pandemic. “All applications shall only be dealt with by post,” it added.

Earlier , the Embassy had published on October 10 that the services provided by the Cox and Kings Global Services (CKGS) so far would not be available from October 14.

In the public notice, the Embassy stated that it would provide direct limited services only in case of emergencies, following the shutdown of the CKGS.
