Indian men’s hockey team win an Olympic medal after four decades

Indian men’s hockey team has created history by securing an Olympic medal after four decades.
India defeated Germany in a close competition (5-4). Simranjeet Singh scored two goals for India at the Oi Hockey Stadium, along with Hardik Singh, Harmanpreet Singh and Rupinder Pal Singh also added their names on the score sheet.
It is after 41 years that a Indian men’s hockey team securing an Olympic medal.The last Olympic medal the Indian team won was in 1980 at the Moscow Games where India gained gold defeating Spain 4–3 in the final.
