Sreesanth Picks Up Pace, Makes Five-Wickets Haul In Vijay Hazare Trophy
In a surprising turn of events, pacer S Sreesanth has picked up five -wicket haul in his second coming back ODI match in the on-going Vijay Hazare Trophy 50-overs tournament in Bengaluru.
It is his first five wicket haul in the last 15 years.
It was against Uttar Pradesh in a Group C game at the KSCA stadium in Bengaluru on Monday Sreesanth picked up 5 wickets for Kerala, the first after his return to domestic cricket.
Rival skipper and India pace man Bhuvneshwar Kumar is also included who surrendered before Sreesanth.
Sreesanth first took the wicket of Abhishek Goswami for 54 (63 balls, 2×6, 4×4) and added the wicket of top-scorer Akshdeep Nath for 68 (60 balls, 9×4).
The Kerala pacer then picked up the last three wickets in the UP innings, including Bhuvneshwar Kumar for just 1.Sreesanth now has seven wickets in just two games.
The Kerala speedster had taken two wickets in the first match against Odisha which Kerala won by 34 runs via VJD method in a rain-hit contest.
Earlier, Sreesanth had got excluded from IPL auction.
“It was honestly disappointing not to make the cut but I am really alright. If I can wait 8 years to make a comeback into cricket, I can wait for some more time. No more sympathies are needed because guys I am absolutely happy,” Sreesanth had said, in the lengthy video posted on Instagram, after his name wasn’t included in the IPL 2021 auction.
The 38- year old pacer was suspended from domestic and international cricket for 7 years following an alleged spot-fixing case.
He was acquitted earlier by Supreme Court from all charges he faced and he represented Kerala in Sayed Mushtaq Ali trophy T20 tournament last month.
