These countries ease travel restrictions for Indian students
In a big relief to Indian students who study abroad, India government on Thursday informed that many countries such as USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and Georgia have eased travel restrictions for them and they can travel to these countries safely.
The government also announced that many more countries are expected to follow the same path soon.
“Our Missions abroad have been actively taking up these issues with the respective Governments and have been impressing upon those Governments to ease the travel restrictions. Also the issue of travel restrictions has been taken up at the Ministerial level with several countries,” Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan said in the Rajya Sabha today.
Therefore, many countries, including USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Georgia, etc have eased travel restrictions for Indian students and more countries are expected to ease when Covid situation improves, the minister said.
V Muraleedharan also said that the well-being of Indians abroad, including students, is the top priority of the government.
Many international Indian students have stranded in the country due to Covid-19 travel restrictions.
It was during the severe second wave that countries had imposed travel restrictions on them.
Owing to the reduced cases of Covid-19 in India, several countries have now eased the travel restrictions.
