One of such remedies is made of using curry leaves and lukewarm water and which can be used to help lose weight. This can also alleviate bad cholesterol. Consuming pills made of ground curry leaves with lukewarm water daily can reduce fat as well as bad cholesterol from the body.

Another home remedy which can be used to reduce fat is a mixture of onion juice and buttermilk. It is necessary to grind the onion well and mix the juice of it with buttermilk and consuming this mixture can reduce fat as well as cholesterol significantly.

According to a study this year, foods that can lower cholesterol and reduce the other risk factors of heart diseases are Legumes, Avocado, nuts such as almonds and walnuts; fish, whole grains such as oats and barley; fruits and berries, dark chocolates, cocoa and garlic, as these foods contain more soluble fat, fiber and omega 3 fatty acids.
Another study found 69 Indian cholesterol patients who consumed 70 g soluble fiber per day had comparatively fewer risk of heart diseases and stroke.

The American Heart Association (AHA) recommends an average 40 minutes of moderate- to vigorous-intensity aerobic activity three or four times a week can lower cholesterol level as well as blood pressure and risk of heart attack and stroke.
According to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) reduced consumption of Tran’s fats like margarine, partially hydrogenated vegetable oils, fried foods, certain processed and prepackaged foods have positive effect on cholesterol management. It is also imperative to consume fewer unsaturated fats like red meat, pork, chicken with the skin on, butter, cheese and other dairy products, cooking oils such as palm oil and coconut oil to keep one disease-free.
